A young man fatally shot his 15-year-old girlfriend in a Jamaica drug den and then lied about her committing suicide because he thought she had given him a sexually transmitted disease, sources said.
Police charged Amin Abdullah with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, in connection to the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Alexis Anderson.
Abdullah initially told investigators that the teen killed herself, but eventually admitted that he had shot her, sources said.
Sources said Abdullah lived in the house — described as being abandoned and a destination for people to come and use drugs — since last December.
On Wednesday night, sources said, Abdullah had a fight with Anderson about contracting an STD and blaming her for infecting him.
It was not clear if Anderson had an STD.
Sources said that Anderson ran away three months ago and had lived on the streets for some time, before moving in with Abdullah at the Jamaica home, sources said. It was not clear if a missing persons report had been filed.
Other couples who were at that location on Wednesday night, according to law enforcement sources, told police that they heard a shot and when they came to Abdullah’s room they saw the girl with a gun lying near her body.
It was not immediately clear if the gun, which was missing when investigators arrived, has been recovered.
Abdullah had three prior arrests, including for criminal possession of a controlled substance, jumping a subway turnstile and criminal possession of marijuana, police said.
He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted. It was not immediately known if Abdullah had a lawyer.
