I find it funny that you don’t mention the stigma against homosexuality within the African American community as a catalyst for the “Down Low”phenomenon. Instead you blame things like Hip-Hop, which I agree does fuel and promote the stereotype of the hyper-masculine African American male. However, hip-hop is an art form, and as such should be used as a mirror into our community instead of a scapegoat. Could it be that these black men who, most, are gay are simply afraid to come out to their family, friends, and loved because of being ostracized. The problem of HIV in our community is real, and blaming it on dl men will not solve it. I think the African American community (my community) plays into the stereo-type of the hyper-masculine black male just as much as society does. We should be reaching out to these men and letting them know it is ok to be themselves. We should stop looking for people and things to blame and start looking to ourselves. That is how you solve this issue.

its sad because you believe in some weird way or another that as a POPULAR PERSON certain things you are protected from. this is tragic, very sickening to know that yet another young boy has lost his mother in a accident. Her family have lost a love one that could never be replaced. My heart and support goes to this family. i pray GOD will step In and show his strength as he done so many times before. knowing the power of GOD will never fail i do believe that he will carry this family through.
